MCG - SCG Yatra, Day 25

Crackenback - Jindabyne - East Jindabyne

After our first night at Jindabyne, we got ready and drove back to the Crackenback Resort. I resumed the walk early morning because there were a few things that we wanted to do today apart from the walk. Most of the way, the road was typically windy and downhill. After a short break, we walked into Jindabyne and went straight to the caravan park to have lunch and a subsequent power nap.

Shekhar had brought warning stickers to go above the windscreen of the van. This was in accordance with the requirements of the NSW police. These were self-adhesive high-Vis stickers with hand written text and Shekhar managed to put them on while I was asleep. Well done Shekahr! Thank you.

In the early afternoon, we went shopping. We needed some fruit, vegies, bread and milk, hand sanitizer, shavers, and Vicks or Strepsils for my dry cough that seemed to be lingering on forever. We also wanted a doctor to have a look at my toe-blisters and see the healing process was on the right course. After that we walked around the town centre and found an Indian restaurant. We wanted to try it out, but we just had snacks and left. It wasn’t because the food was bad or anything to do with the service at the restaurant, but I wanted to walk for a couple of hours (second shift) before it got dark.

We started to walk towards Berridale, the town to stay the next night. Our target was to cover 10 Kms and reach East Jindabyne tonight. The road was very busy, and many sections had no shoulder to walk on. The bridge at the end of the lake Jindabyne provided a perfect opportunity to enjoy the natural beauty and take photos. A couple of kms before reaching East Jindabyne, there was turn off to the left signposted Tyrolean Village. Once we reached East Jindabyne, that was enough for the day. On our way back, we drove into the Tyrolean Village. I was disappointed because apart from the one street name, I couldn’t find anything that resembled Tyrol, a province in Austria. I have a soft spot for Austria because this was the country that shaped my life. It gave me a specific direction to set my life in motion. I always remain indebted to Austria and all those who influenced my thinking into positivity, who transformed my uncertainty to “Can do”. Thank you to Austria! A big Thank you!

We drove back to the caravan park, had some food in the dining area, and went to sleep.
